Wilfred Frieswijk:
"Observing the early stages of clustered (massive) star formation"
Abstract. In the first part of the talk I will give an overview of recent work on identifying star forming regions in general, and cluster-forming clumps in particular, in the outer Galactic plane. In more detail, I will show the (preliminary) results of (sub-)millimeter and infrared observations of G111, an outer Galaxy dark cloud complex harbouring various young stages of clustered star formation. In the second part I will give a general overview of the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) and its capabilities and briefly mention the opportunity for Early Science observations, scheduled for 2011.
